Khan Signs Nude Pics of Self at Airport

What next? No, really. I want to know. What next? First SRK announces he’s releasing a movie called My Name is Khan that has to do with issues of terrorism post-9/11. Then SRK gets detained by guards at Newark airport. Now, days after SRK wraps up a publicity tour in NYC, we hear that our friend is once again in the news? Life imitating art? Stranger things have happened.

Claims on behalf of authorities that naked body scanner images are immediately destroyed after passengers pass through new x-ray backscatter devices have been proven fraudulent after it was revealed that naked images of Indian film star Shahrukh Khan were printed out and circulated by airport staff at Heathrow in London. > “I was in London recently going through the airport and these new machines have come up, the body scans. You’ve got to see them. It makes you embarrassed – if you’re not well endowed,” said Khan, referring to how the scans produce clear images of a person’s genitals. “You walk into the machine and everything – the whole outline of your body – comes out,” he said.

“I was a little scared. Something happens [inside the scans], and I came out. Then I saw these girls – they had these printouts. I looked at them. I thought they were some forms you had to fill. I said ‘give them to me’ – and you could see everything inside. So I autographed them for them,” stated Khan.

Khan’s reference to “girls” with printouts of his naked body scan can only refer to female airport security staff responsible for processing the images produced by the scanners, “professionals” who are supposed to instantly delete the images, according to Lord Adonis. [Link.]

Although the actor seems to be using the story as a humorous, self-deprecating little anecdote, I’m sure we can all appreciate the privacy concerns this brings up for everyone – celebrity or not. Certainly the security at the airport should face repercussions for their unprofessional behavior. What do you guys think? More evidence of how the far-reaching long-arm of Big Brother invades the privacy of individuals, or funny story of a self-conscious actor who is afraid the whole world now knows the size of his package? Will Khan become the poster boy for the conservatives who decried full-body scanners right from the moment they were implemented? Stranger things have happened.

  1. Thanks for the link. That is terrible. Once again many injured and a couple killed. Indians, Foreigners, and specifically Jews targeted again. In that link it says the German bakery was opposite a Chabad House. Seriously, I never even knew there was one Chabad House in all of India before that horrible November Mumbai Mass Murder. They must really hate all Jews to go and make such an effort to find these few Jewish houses in a country that size with a population of 1 billion and counting. Needle in a hay stack. It is all so sad. Perhaps if SRK wants to be a true peacemaker he should stand by all the victims – Jews, Indians, Foreigners. If he is saying nice things about Pakistan in India (which I have no problem with him doing in principle, though I don’t know exactly what he said), then it would be nice if he could say nice things about Jews, Foreigners, and his Indian compatriots of all religions to Pakistan in light of this attack. Especially since according to the counter terrorism site, LeT is allied with the Simi/Huji. Spread the love and understanding in both directions.

  2. Interesting… That fatwa against Salman Rushdie happened this day back in 1989. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salman_Rushdie

“On 14 February 1989, a fatwā requiring Rushdie’s execution was proclaimed on Radio Tehran by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the spiritual leader of Iran at the time, calling the book “blasphemous against Islam” (chapter IV of the book depicts the character of an Imam in exile who returns to incite revolt from the people of his country with no regard for their safety). A bounty was offered for Rushdie’s death, and he was thus forced to live under police protection for years afterward. On 7 March 1989, the United Kingdom and Iran broke diplomatic relations over the Rushdie controversy.

The publication of the book and the fatwā sparked violence around the world, with bookstores being firebombed. Muslim communities in several nations in the West held public rallies in which copies of the book were burned. Several people associated with translating or publishing the book were attacked, seriously injured, and even killed.[22] Many more people died in riots in Third World countries.”

  3. othing wrong with them protesting.

interesting to see how violence and vandalism has now become “protesting” and goondas have become “activists”. condemning pakistani terrorism does not equate to supporting shivsena violence and condemning shivsena violence does not equate to supporting pakistani terrorism – and shame on you for suggesting that srk only talks up one side of the eqn. he did make statements after 26/11 as did most of bollywood, and as an ipl team owner, he said that it is a shame that good pakistani players are being denied the right to participate in the ipl. he should be dinged for hypocrisy on this because he didn’t lift a finger when it could have made a difference, but your blind support of shiv sena, apologia and minimization of their actions is even more shameful.

and sameer, nitin pai’s point about the satanic verses ban is exactly that appeasement is a bad thing to do independent of community – something which all sane people should be able to easily agree upon. of course, in practice, everybody feels they are the group that has been the most put upon and needs to scream the loudest, and the political establishment duly capitulates.

  4. let it also be noted that even pre bombing, you felt the need just to launch nastiness and still cannot bring yourself to condemn the domestic gang violence and worse by shiv sena and their fellow mouth breathers. and the bombing was like catnip to you, seeking to distract the conversation and gratuitously bring srk up.

  5. That is from the opinion section to be clear, but from the description of the movie there I don’t think it will do that well in the US. It seems too sappy.

Why does the SRK character have to be autistic? Or was that a jibe at his acting skill?

  6. Breaking news: 17 policeman dead in Maoist attack in Bengal. Shiv Sena under scanner.
More Shiv Sena Antics: IED, ammunition recovered under bridge in Baramulla.

Done discussing with you, since you seem to believe that Shiv Sena is justified in destroying Indian property and engaging in violence.

  7. Done discussing with you,

Thank you, sweet Jesus, thank you.

Meanwhile, I picked this up on the tweetline: “Jihadis killed bcos Govt said it wants to talk; Maoists killed bcos Govt said it didn’t want to talk! All the best UPA v2.0”

  8. More from the tweet ether: “terror in pune that kills nine becomes a banner headline. 24 cops killed by naxals becomes a statistic.”
