    I think the message “F{raternize with} Asian men” goes down better when a hot woman delivers it. Otherwise it sort of undermines itself.

    1) there isn’t a sex imbalance in interracial marriage for south asians in the USA

    2) the sex imbalance for east asians is sharply reduced when you limit your sample to native-born couples. that is, it seems a large proportion of the asian woman + white man couples are immigrant women with native born males.

    data analysis here.

    also, some of this might have to do with average between group height differences. see Anthropometry of Love: Height and Gender Asymmetries in Interethnic Marriages. chix dig taller dudes. dudes don’t dig taller chix. on average.

    The asian girl is the nerdy white man’s dream..I’ve noticed that asian women (primarily FOBs) are more susceptible to the charms of a nerdy provider guy, provided he’s caucasian

    a lot of the discussion among asian americans and interracial/ethnic pairings has the subtext that there is a gender skew. the data surprised me, so i try to spread the world. as for the height, that was always to me a very plausible explanation, so it was nice to see it characterized rigorously.

    Right, because we totally need more fake and unattainable media images. Seriously, the fact that this is full of ‘ordinary’ people is part of what makes it so great. Am I the only one here old enough to remember when videos first came out in the early eighties, and they were full of dressed up but otherwise regular-looking folks? When you could actually imagine yourself as a rock star without tens of thousands of dollars of plastic surgery?
