Los Angeles Meetup – The 24 Hour Countdown [Update]

This is your last reminder that the Sepia Mutiny Los Angeles End of Summer Blow Out Meetup is less than 30 hours away!

I know, I know — what’s with all these reminders? You already have over 30 people RSVPed for the meetup, a Ms. Pac Man Challenge, and goodie bags. Why would anyone within the two hour driving radius of downtown Los Angeles not want to come to the Los Angeles meetup?
This message is for you – the folks teetering on the edge of ‘sounds like fun’ or ‘I’ll be such a dork if I go to a blog meetup.’ This is not a blog meetup. I repeat, not a blog meetup. It is THE Sepia Mutiny Los Angeles End of Summer Blow Out. You will not lose Los Angeles hipster street cred for joining us on Friday. You may even gain some Altern-Desi street cred for coming out with us on Friday. If you are a blogger, a commenter, a lurker, and yes, even a banned-from-commenting reader (ahem), you are all welcome to come.
When: Friday, September 15th
Time: 7:00pm – really late. (Happy Hour goes until 9:00pm)
Where: Golden Gopher 417 W. 8th St. Los Angeles, 90014 [map]
To recap: Free parking. Bring rolls of quarters for Mutinous Ms. Pac Man Challenge. Happy Hour until 9pm. Goody bags for the first 27 people. Name tags. Pictures of/with Pardesi Gori/ Brown Sage. Abhi and Vinod. Robin. TazPac/ Sepia Destiny Aunty-wingwoman. Voter registration forms. Ass grabbing (if you are lucky). Maybe a chick fight, maybe some girl on girl. The chance to use the pick up line, “Is that a roll of quarters in your pocket, or are you just…” And, of course, the chance to hang out with the coolest macacas on the West Siiiiide in downtown Los Angeles.

  1. hey abhi, can’t see the photos from last night… do you have any direct links?

That’s strange. I uploaded them and they are in the pool but only I can see them. Let me work on this problem. Maybe Flickr goddess Anna can help me out.

  2. maybe you need to mark them public. it should have a green square icon near the bottom with the tagline (c) for public . if it has a yellow square, then it’s only intended for friends and/or family by invitation only.

Yep, the green square is there. All the pics are large so I think it may just take a while to show up. I’ll keep on it.

  4. Abhi,

I can see all your pictures from last night when I sign on to flickr.

    Seems it was great success.

Interesting, very interesting. Especially, one starts associating “iconoclastic” comments on SM to their bourgeois faces. Bery, Bery interesting

  5. uh..

Shouldn’t it be “Goddess of small things”?

sure… if you like your goddesses hairy and with external plumbing. 🙂

Iconoclastic is an intresting choice of words. And who might you be referring to, Kush?

  7. And who might you be referring to, Kush?

Please don’t take me too seriously. All was in part jest. I wasn’t picking anyone specific, since those photos are not labeled, and they are only handful of them I know by face, and email contacts.

Even though, I always try to associate words to face in real life (and deeds too), I do….Ernest Hemingway talked about it in his novels.

But let’s get back to SM, LA meet, and the flickr enigma.

  8. Thanks to the Sepiamutiny crew for hosting and organizing the event. The location was cool and people even better. It was a pleasure to meet the bloggers as well as fellow SM fans. The crowd was definitely muntinous.

You were gracious hosts; even to crack addicted, eight ball snorting, recant the entire Illiad in one breath types like myself. Blanket apologies if I talked anyone’s ear off (Which I most certainly did).

    Good times!

  9. No Pardesi Gori at Meetup?

My wild (and totally non-serious) theory: Pardesi Gori is CAD, and we will never meet either.

Incidentally, anyone know what happened to CAD? Did she get banned?

Did she fare badly in one of her mideast mission? (Isnt it weird– and sad– that if anything happened to a familiar mutineer, theres a good chance nobody online would ever know)

Yes, yes, a good reason to go to meetups, I know, and not just be disembodied keystrokes…

  10. Thank you, Taz, Abhi, Vinod, for organizing a fun meetup. It was great to meet many of you commenters, bloggers and lurkers in person. What a cool, down-to-earth crowd! The small detour was very well worth it :). PG was definitely missed.

“bourgeois faces”, Kush? I see it :-). I don’t know about faces, but I can spot bourgeois from a mile away simply from their attire.

  11. Shit! I just looked at the LA meetup pics on Flickr and the guy with the long hair is totally cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!!

How come I didn’t spot him walking into the bar?!

Damn! I would’ve totally went in, had I.

    Who is that? Mad Guru?

Eager disciple here! hee hee hee…. just kidding. All in fun. But he is cute!
