Meetup May 28th in Manhattan? YES.

Ennis and Anna.jpg This past weekend at the fantastic SAWCC conference, several mutineers had helpful suggestions about Sunday’s potential meetup. I relayed my concerns about not being rushed, being able to have audible conversations AND whether we’d be able to fill our bellies with something a little more appetizing than a T-bone Steak, cheese eggs and welch’s grape. Saucy Pooja assured me that whether at The Pink Pony or Leela Lounge, we’d be fine (ain’t that right, Boo? True?)

I’m leaning towards Leela Lounge, which is on 3rd between Broadway and Mercer because another saucy lady named Yesha raved about the atmosphere. The menu wasn’t bad, either…I’m always ready to eat chaat and if a place serves cocktails with Old Monk? You KNOW they keep it real. πŸ˜‰

Erstwhile guest Cicatrix had a third suggestion which I helpfully can’t remember nor find in my GMail. I add the latter situation because apparently, I got an invite to this shpot when Bongbreaker was in town…so if Bongsie, Cica or the Vij have any idea what I’m going on about, put me out of my misery via comment, spanks.

So, beyond venue we need to decide on a time. Perhaps something in the afternoon would be ideal, since I will be highly hungover after a raucous wedding in Lawn Guy Land. Also, this way people can show without missing church. How’s THAT for contrast? πŸ˜‰

What say all of you? Do you have a preference between pink equestrian joints, cool new lounges and places I can’t recall? Would 3pm sound better than 5? Will Pooja not show since it’s her birthday and thus, I shall be throwing her over my knee so we can each give her a solid birthday whack? πŸ˜‰ Tune in next time, for…hopefully more specific information.:+:

That picture was taken at Tryst; it’s me + the uber-mysterious Mutineer who has NEVER been to one of these flesh-met love fests before. Don’t you want to help take his meetup cherry? πŸ˜€

  1. The Bong-Cicatrix nexus met at Brick Lane on 6th St. and 2nd Ave. It’s delish.

I see now what you do to ex-Mutineers. You hold meetups in their old haunts. Torture, Itellya.

  2. ooh!! meetup!! i might come down from CT again just for this. i suggest “spice” somewhere around leela lounge. it’s kinda crowded but the food is yummay.

i’m just worried that everyone will think i’m a kid and not take me seriously– but then again, things are seldom really serious on SM. =)

  3. Lycheetinis? That might put this place up there with the glorious Verlaine — in that case, I definitely vote Leela Lounge.

(Though ANNA says that she already will be hungover….)

  4. Oh, I’ll be there with the proverbial bells (payal? ghungroo?) on.

Saucy Pooja assured me that whether at The Pink Pony or Leela Lounge, weÂ’d be fine.

Yep. But, Leela Lounge gets my vote. (The Pink Pony is totally chill and we can hang out there for HOURS, but the food is meh.) The food at LL, however, is yum–chaat, mushroom samosas, fun drinks–and it’s a beautiful space. I doubt they’ll kick us out, especially if we arrive at an odd time like 3PM (neither lunch, nor dinner).

    P.

  5. Pink Pony in the south is an adult entertainment joint. For a second it did make sense ( we will meet anywhere, but have fun -kinda statement), but after a lil’ googling, I figured that all they share is a name. Nonetheless it was funny.

  6. Hello!! I adore this gorgeous city of yours but unfortunately my flight back to my (even more gorgeous) state of Iowa leaves at 3. Wish I could make it!!!

  7. T-bone Steak, cheese eggs and welchÂ’s grape

    Lovin the Biggie references.

Shall we redez-vous at the bar around two?

  8. i might come down from CT again just for this.

Wow, another Connecticutian (??) on SM? What a small world =)

Anna, I think hubby and I will be able to stop by.

yesss! though i’m sure i’m the babiest of all mutineers. where in CT are you from?

  10. Chivalry ISN’T dead! Preston is coming to the meetup! πŸ˜€

I am glad that this photo-shoto thing is being handled by a professional. No mo blurry pics.

  11. hmm. . . I’ll get in to Penn around 5. Someone want to text me (get the ph# by email, link above) and let me know where/if things progress?

  12. I am glad that this photo-shoto thing is being handled by a professional. No mo blurry pics.

Some of mine are blurry, too. I’m just smart enough not to show them to anyone. ;>)

  13. Sorry ANNA!! Should’ve written it down or something. I suggested Verlaine, where Bong breaker and I went off to after we ditched the Vij. (ok, that’s not true. He ditched us when the craving for a cupcake became too strong. Bafflingly, I do believe that wasn’t an euphamism..)

Leela lounge sounds great. See y’all then, bitchez.

  14. the mr. shall be with you in spirit while he wines and dines with mater cicatrix and choti behen-ji cicatrix amongst the longhorns. why haven’t i met DesiDudeinAustin yet?

  15. Verlaine would be fabulous — all desis end up there eventually, right Cicatrix? — but they don’t open until 7pm, so Leela Lounge sounds like a good substitute.

The following 55 is inspired by Anna’s plot to deflower Ennis. All similarities to actual historical events and real-life individuals are purely coincidental.

Taking a deep breath, Ennis strode into the cave. He could see the sirens in the darkness, their Sepia magiks awesome to behold.

Sighing, he lay down on the altar and closed his eyes.

As Anna and her coven leaned over him, their chanting reverberated in his ears.

    “Galang…..Galang…..Galang…..”

Ennis was never seen alive again.

  17. A.N.N.A : I hope that the blurry guy isn’t “our” Dr. Singh! ‘coz you know his wife reads this blog, right? πŸ˜‰

  18. No, the blurry figure in the photo is not Dr. Amardeep Singh. Although I am flattered to think that you confused me for such a handsome devil πŸ˜‰

  19. No, the blurry figure in the photo is not Dr. Amardeep Singh. Although I am flattered to think that you confused me for such a handsome devil πŸ˜‰

Dr. Singh, I presume?! (hehe)… In which case, this was an excellent demonstration of ” Ek Teer Se Do Nishane”

    Learn, kids, learn!

  20. ooh brick lane is really so good – possibly the best of “indian row” though i haven’t tried them all yet.

i can’t go, but i’ll reccommend earth, because they have a pretty atmosphere and really good snacks. though don’t get the rose martini, it made of rose water and reminds me a little too much of temple. not exactly the recollection that you want while drinking. one caveat, i’ve never been to earth at night so i don’t know what kind of scene it is then, i went when it was fairly empty and a friendly uncle waited on us.

  21. The Desi Nole,

    Thank you for response πŸ˜‰

I’ve noticed A N N A hasn’t commented on it yet; hmmm, maybe because it’s a little too close to the truth, or maybe because I’ve let slip her diabolical plan to induct Ennis into the world of the Undead by ritually sacrificing him to the Dark Lord.

Or maybe all these ladies just want to have their wicked way with him. Wall-to-wall Saucy Wenches, all of them.

  22. Or maybe all these ladies just want to have their wicked way with him.

Now you’re just going to go and get Ennis all excited!

  23. Now you’re just going to go and get Ennis all excited!

Considering that he has to return to the dreary mid-west, it is probably good for him πŸ™‚

  24. Janaki

yesss! though i’m sure i’m the babiest of all mutineers

Haha, really.. how old, like 20? What’s the avg age / range of mutineers anyway?

  25. i just turned seventeen a few weeks ago.

    i know there’s no teenagers here. 20!?? pssh. i act 35, son.

  26. despite how weathered and gray i feel in my mutineering soul, my pocket sides with my age. i am now officially broke after trying to meet anna last weekend. b0.

  27. Arrey… you are meeting at my fave desi place in NY! and… unfortunately i’m up in Boston (long story) πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

have a great time, and… if somehow, miraculously i’m back by then, I’ll definitely come… otherwise, know that i’ll be having a lycheetini with you in spirit if not in flesh…

  28. What I’d give to be in NYC this Sunday…eating chaat w/ all you beautiful mutineers while taking in the amazing solstice. Can someone snap some pics for us west-coasters? Enjoy!

  29. induct Ennis into the world of the Undead by ritually sacrificing him to the Dark Lord.

How do you think you end up on the masthead? Please, no mirrors, stakes, silver or holy water tomorrow, OK?

  30. Ennis,

How do you think you end up on the masthead? Please, no mirrors, stakes, silver or holy water tomorrow, OK?

Well, that explains why your face is always mysteriously blurred in all the photographs of the Mutineers occasionally posted on SM…..it ain’t Vaseline or photoshopping that’s causing that effect…..

And you are kinda leaning in towards Anna’s neck in the photo at the top of this page too…..Hmmm……I think you may have taken the “Akal” (immortal) angle of Sikhi a little too literally, bro πŸ˜‰

  31. Mr. C

the mr. shall be with you in spirit while he wines and dines with mater cicatrix and choti behen-ji cicatrix amongst the longhorns.

Dude, I am in da City for the summer. Be back in Austin for the Football season.
