That’s Santa Singh to you …

Always remember, as you track Santa’s travels around the world, that Santa is South Asian.

Yes, we’ve posted this before, but I’m going to post it every single year on Christmas Eve.

Seriously, how many of y’all believed in Santa? My parents never pretended he existed, and my classmates all knew better. We had no chimney, no fireplace, and I knew there was no White Man keeping track of whether I was naughty or nice. Whole thing made around as much sense as the Easter Bunny. Were you a Santaphile growing up? If you’ve got kids, do you want them to believe?

I remember those sad ol’ days in the apartment where as a kid, I was miserable for not having a chimney and fireplace. For one particular year, I used my mom’s mini pine plant to decorate with school-made ornaments, just so I could tell my friends we put up a tree, without technically lying. That same year, my doubts about Santa were confirmed when all the kids in my class were told to bring in their phony santa letters (with the HOH OHO postal code…in Canada at least) and read them out loud. The expressions on some of the kids’ faces when they realized that the letters were identical were priceless!

Who knows if the Santa myth will die out by the time I have kids…I mean children nowadays seem less gullible than when I was a kid. But if it doesn’t, then I would definitely make an effort to encourage it because for one, childhood memories have lasting effects, more so than any other stage in life, and also especially because I feel like I missed out on a lot in my childhood, from being raised in a household that was so disconnected from the environment at school – which was my other “important” world as a kid.

Also, I know i’m pretty late on this, but can you really not login through any other account aside from fb, twitter, gmail…?

  2. My parents did the whole Christmas tree thing when I was a kid. They even have those pics of me sitting on mall santas where i can be seen bawling my eyes out for sitting on some creepy guy. Anyway, I never believed in Santa even as a kid. I remember my neighbor came to my house in a Santa costume and I was like “Hey it’s tommy”. Never believed in the tooth fairy either. I was a mature kid in some ways.
