No, that’s not a typo. Yes, Atlanta, Georgia. No, no, none of us who live in Atlanta (err… or in the boonies around it like me) refer to it as Hotlanta. Please stop using that particular illegitimate noun for good and read on …
In the spirit of spreading some Sepia to the South I’ve decided to do my part by hosting a meet-up.
I know there are tons of you , including me, (I know, I know – commenturbation, hehehe) in and around Atlanta that point your browsers here daily from both work and home (and do your actual work while taking a break and waiting for the next snarky comment), but eggjactly how many brownz live on the Southsyyyyde? I want to know. Who are you? Why do you have so much time? Where do you hang out? How long have you been suffering spring allergies in Atlanta? I have many more pointless questions. Any takers?
Please RSVP here or to chaitan at sepiamutiny dot com so I have an idea to find a place for Brunch for that day. Suggestions welcome. I’ve been behind the scenes as the site admin for too long and its time for me to get out of the bunker.
Date: Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Place: TBD
Agenda: Brunch (and whatever we feel like doing after)
Caution: I will be bringing my camera and I’m not afraid to use it.
Update: Due to an utterly bad guess on my part while imagining the schedules of my fellow SMers in Atlanta, this meetup is canceled. Looks like it’s just a case of bad timing. No break for me. Back to the bunker then. Another time perhaps …
If you don’t use it, you lose it. That, my dear, is what she said.
Oh, damn! 🙁 My brother’s graduation party’s that day, but I’m not sure when yet. I probably won’t be free till the evening, if then.
And now I feel all guilty because you actually cited one of the ~10 comments I’ve ever posted on SM. 😉
haha.. mr. bandela… now that i leave hotlanta.. you decide to have a meetup? :), i will throw a ton of peaches at you… may i recommend madras saravana bhavan for it (although it now has a new owner and kinda sucks ;))…
they let colored folk congregate down south???
‘course they do. right before they walk the green mile.
You guys need a meetup in Boston!
ATLANTAAAAAAAAAAA..
Place: How abt Zyka or Udipi (nah too small) Madras Saravana Bhavan (authentic southern food, I mean Southern Indian) let’s just meet somewhere on the pavement of peachtree blvd arnd a theatre which is playing ‘Naya daur’ or something like that…

Ouch! I deserve that. Vat to do. 🙁
Oh this is sad. I am in your fair city for the next 2 weeks, but on the 27th. I leave to go home. 🙁

Like chickpea said, MSB’s not what it used to be, since they changed ownership–now it’s nothing special. I haven’t been to Udipi in years, but I loved it, and it’s quite authentic south Indian food as well.
There’s also Vatika in Marietta–I went there once but really enjoyed it.
If this is indeed on, then I’ll try to come out if I can!
Gosh! I wish I could but alas, I work on that day and live 3.5 hrs away. Maybe another city another time. Great site.
Seems like too many folks not around that weekend. Let’s just do it this weekend y’all!
skp
VATICA IS AMAZING and the husband/wife team are just good people.
Chaitan–do Vatica.. MSB honestly (and you know how much I used to LOVE it.. I mean how many times did we oursleves meet up there for dinner.. and the Diwali gatherings nonetheless) SUCKS after the new owner came.. i went there in December when I came back to visit and wanted to cry in dissapointment..
TOTALLY recommend Vatica… it was my go to place when I met up with ‘SC Alum to watch the weekly football games.. YAY VATICA!
Vatica sounds good. And it is vegetarian. So extra points from me.

Perhaps we should move up to this weekend if that works for most ATL SM regulars. Is this Saturday better?
yo, has there ever been an h-town meetup?
This weekend works for me. 🙂
I can see what will happen – there will be a group of people waiting at Peachtree street, another at Peachtree avenue, another at West Peachtree street, Peachtree circle, Peachtree boulevard..
I would stay away from all Peach trees, if I were you 😉

ummm… places to see? are we tourists? i thought we were locals. i’m confused. somebody translate. where is that dictionary?
why the anti-hindu progressive pro-obama bias in this post?
not that you said anything about any of these, but i know it’s there. don’t deny it, i know.

LOL! It wouldn’t be an SM post without one of these comments.
boston meetup? just go to nyc.
I call it hot(not)lanta due to the sunbeltish non-urban nature of the city.
my friend just referred me to this site…but brunch is always interesting and fun. 🙂
Great idea Chaitan! Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town this weekend and next, so it’s a no-go for me sadly. =(
So is this on for this weekend, or are you holding out for when more people can come out? (ATL doesn’t have an enormous brown population but I’m amazed more people haven’t replied…)
This is NOT on for this weekend. I want to wait until next week to see how many people are interested in a meetup irrespective of the date.

Lol, cant say it hasnt happened before 🙂 but I get the point, I hope we can narrow down to a proper address….
I will be interested in a meetup. Probably not next weekend. But if we have one every few weeks, i am sure many of us will be able to make one or the other.
