Countdown to NYC – T-minus 4 Days

A gentle reminder that the Eastside leg of the Mutineer Road Tour is this Saturday, Aug 18 in NYC. Come one, come all – lurkers, commentors, straight, gay, white, brown, yellow, purple, macaca, married, single, polygamous, polyamorous, uptown, downtown, lovers, haters, and all in between.

Festivities start a tad on the early side (5pm) so you have time to visit the meetup and duck out for dinner if you don’t want your RealLife friends to know about your Real friends.

Saturday, August 18 New York City

5pm – ???

Verlaine

110 Rivington St
(b/t Essex & Ludlow)
(212) 614-2494

Special Bonus – this meetup will be co-sponsored by our good friends at Ultrabrown.

And for those who can’t make it to NYC, hopefully we’ll see you in SF next weekend…

  1. Not the same as above– Shoot, have ot be upstate. Why Saturday? The Priyanks parade is the next day!

  2. As posted previously here, are there any plans to actually upload pics from the recent meetups to the Flickr group as stated:

And, as usual, weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll do our best to document the depravity in our flickr group.

    ?

    Thanks.

Busted leg, my friend…I’ll get to it.

  4. was so looking forward…now it appears i might not make it…

Don’t feel bad…I may not be able to, either.

My leg is getting worse, not better. Not sure how handicapped-friendly the LES is, not when getting around easy-in-every-way-Georgetown was a fustercluck last weekend. Note to self, and by self I mean everyone reading this: Sequoia is staffed by @$$#0!#$. Don’t go there.

As if I needed to tell you that. I know, you’re all sooo over it. It’s very 2002.

  5. I think we should all come dressed up like we’re going to a desi wedding reception. Brightly colored lenghas and sarees, fancy-schmancy kurta pajamas and shehrvanees – theme parties are fun!

  6. Hmmmm….attendance not much? I’ll be there. All planning on coming, please say aye, aight?

  7. So Puli, what you gonna do this time? I say arrive dressed like a Maharaja or snake charmer or Gunga-din or a Hindoo astronaut or something. That should take away the awkwardness ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. last time felt a bit ackward for me….

Im interested in knowing also. I was kicking around the idea of going.

  9. Praytell, what went wrong?

nothing per say. a bit odd for me to carry on conversation with a bunch of complete strangers. thats all….i think i might just break out my maharajah gear. not 100% sure i can make it though. lets see..

  10. I’ll be there. Easy to spot me, I’ll be the good looking one. And the fliest.

pinda u shud come. whatever happened to ur friday happy hour excursion that u mentioned in the never-ending-comment thread. Met any detritus?

any beautiful babies planning on being there?

Anna moley, please try and come. I know u are the one-legged monster and all…but the mutiny does not suffer lame excuses. i’ll chip in for ur chinatown express (aka death on wheels) fare. Happy? I’ll bring a mallu yengineer.

    Get ur macaca face on!

  11. a bit odd for me to carry on conversation with a bunch of complete strangers

puli, we already hear that wonderful love letter between you and HMF in which you both profess your love for star wars/star trek (and reveal your deep inner geeky self). plus, many of us have an intimate understanding of your dating woes and strategies. i don’t think you should consider us strangers anymore.

Perfect, since my aunt will be here this weekend. I guess I’ll have to wait until next year.

hmmm…i would be very sad if i had to wait so long while dc gets them so often. i know much of this is because most (all?) of the bloggers live outside nyc, but can something be done to organise meet-ups more informally/frequently? just wondering…

ANNA, sorry to hear about the leg. i hope you can make it to nyc – i think many would (including me if i make it) would be disappointed if you weren’t there ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I’m going to be totally lame-ass and backtrack. I commit 30% to being there since I’m moving this weekend ๐Ÿ™

P.S. I am watching “So You Think You Can Dance” and one of the routines is to a Nitin Sawhney song. What!

Totally in favor, but I shouldn’t complain since SF is finally getting a meet up.. after I’ve moved ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Anna moley, please try and come.

Believe me, I want to. The fact that I might not get to is upsetting me so much, I just snapped at someone very nice, who was telling me that I should be pragmatic and think of my leg first vs. fun at meetups in very narrow bars in NYC. Now I’m depressed about NYC and an asshole. Yay!

I know u are the one-legged monster and all…but the mutiny does not suffer lame excuses.

When I first read this, I wanted to smack you, but now I really like how punny it is. ๐Ÿ™‚

i’ll chip in for ur chinatown express (aka death on wheels) fare. Happy?

Such gestures, which are appreciated AND unnecessary, are sweet. But I’m done with death on wheels/Chinatown bus. Have been for over a year, since I got stranded in New York and then had to pay through my small Lemurian nose for a last-minute ticket on Amtrak. Let that be a cautionary tale to those of you tempted by their sweeeet cheap fares. That and I heard one of their buses exploded or something.

Ever since then, I only take Amtrak, if I’m coming to New York, which partially explains why New York doesn’t get as many meetups as DC. It doesn’t cost me $200 to get to Georgetown, and photograph dosas to torment you with. I know it’s confusing, because it seems like I used to go to the NY meetups all the time, but that’s because I could, easily. See? It’s not you, it’s me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I’ll bring a mallu yengineer.

Adorable offer, but what did he ever do to you, that you would torture him so horribly? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. wow, a point by point reply. you really do spend all your time here.

-I know u are the one-legged monster and all…but the mutiny does not suffer lame excuses. —When I first read this, I wanted to smack you, but now I really like how punny it is. ๐Ÿ™‚

i have vowed never to use an emoticon to clarify but i figured you would get it considering how quickly your lemurian mind works.

The chinatown bus exploding is totally exaggerated..it was only the radiator that blew up on the freeway. Not like that is dangerous or anything. I should know, I was on it.

My first girlfriend left me for him. I plotted revenge and it involves him getting marrried and having a child. I would then imprison him for 18 years without giving him a reason, and then release him. I would then manipulate him and create circumstances whereby he would have sex with his daughter (whose existence he is unaware of) and then I would threaten to tell his daughter the truth.

    sigh. The best laid plans…

    take care of your leg.

  16. puli, we already hear that wonderful love letter between you and HMF in which you both profess your love for star wars/star trek

I never professed love for star trek. believe it or not, the two aren’t interchangeable!

i don’t think you should consider us strangers anymore.

I was thinking the same thing, as for me, I’d find it much more inviting talking with strangers.

  17. come one / come all – no need for formal RSVP’s, etc. Just look for my (and hopefuly A N N A’s) smiling mugs at a corner of the bar and come over and say hi.
