Temping as a Mutiny-Wallah

Ancestry from a non-India South Asian country? Check, Bangladesh. Woman? Check. Muslim? Check. Gay? Umm, no… but I could be if you want me to be… Cheeky? Check.

p>Much like that guy on FX that tries out something new for thirty days, these next thirty are devoted to you. You want me to go undercover and get an interview with Sunny Leone, I’ll do it. You want me to sneak stealthily into Abhi’s office and let a bee loose in it, and video his reaction, done. Figure out how to tap into the secret direct line in the ND office that pages Razib-the-Atheist so easily, I’m on it. And just like that other atheist, figure out a creative eBay auctions, such as, say, hours of Vinod in a dress, to funnel traffic to SM- well, I’m so there. Looking for a suitable boy/girl? I’ll match you up. Are you tired of all the Sheetal Sheth pictures and covers of Indian Maxim? Is the post on the hotness of the Bangladeshi blue eyed workers simply not enough? For you, I will fill my posts with as many John Abraham photos as possible. You got questions, I got answers. And if I don’t, I’ll sneak around under the official auspices of Sepia Mutiny Temporary Super Star and get them for you.

Who am I? I’m simply a coffee-colored geeky nerd. Nerding out to be a full on geek- with Desi-American issues being the core of what I work on. In all seriousness, it’s good to see a site that is creating a real community online, connecting and networking desis everywhere. I’m honored to join the roll to the right for the next 30 days, and hope to give it the justice it deserves. And now, let the real mutiny begin…?

  1. I am just learning about blogs from my daughter, this is my first test comment

  2. this month is going to be super fun… i’m so happy to have a cheeky guest on board.. entertain, inspire, inform, and have tons of fun… -the pea…

  3. It’s cool to have a Bengali on sepia mutiny. Can’t wait to see what you blog about for the next 30 days.

  4. Taz, You may not remember me, but I had a chance to meet you last year when you threw a house party in November. My friend Joycelyn met you in DC and she was basically my connection to your party. Well, it’s cool to have an LA based non-Indian desi person blogging on sepia. It’d be cool to see blogs related to exclusive desi scene and issues surrounding the LA area.

    Oh, I like you already.

And wait, you’re in LA right? Doesn’t this give you rights as a guest blogger to push for a sepia LA meetup? ;-). Great to see another female-and a Bangali- on board. To echo DDIA- Ashun, boshun. Glad to have you here.

  6. I misread the title of this post at first – I thought it said “Tempting as a Mutiny-Wallah.” That sounded even more interesting 😉

  7. More diversity is always welcome. And frankly getting the Indian male commentary on here was all getting too much 😉

  8. Taz,

Welcome and that was a very different introduction from what most of the readers (well atleast me) are used to.

And about your offer to find a sutiable girl, you never know, I might take you up on it. And as a personal request, if you do decide to fill your posts with John’s pictures, could you also add a woman or two to the list. That would just make the read more intresting.

  9. Are you tired of all the Sheetal Sheth pictures and covers of Indian Maxim? Is the post on the hotness of the Bangladeshi blue eyed workers simply not enough? For you, I will fill my posts with as many John Abraham photos as possible.

Ha ha!! Estrogen represent! Can’t wait for your posts 🙂

  10. Welcome Taz..between ANNA and you, the real mutiny might just have begun already!

Very refreshing introduction..I like the idea of making it a ‘you asked for it’ month. I am looking forward to it all!

  11. Good lord! Happy days are back. A girl, self-proclaimed geeky nerd and that too from the city of Angels. Could one ask for anything more?? Uh-huh. Excited to see what churns out in next 30 days. 🙂

  12. Lord(s), the Mutiny couldn’t have handpicked a better guest blogger. Hi Taz & welcome! Excited to watch you navigate through the next 30 days. Lots going on in April..movement, activism, strategy..will definitely send tips & stories through the wire. Bring it, girl.

  15. taz: yes yes more posts about desi women! What about desi feminists who have a global impact (or at least a global focus)? Vandana Shiva, Anuradha Mittal (oh how I love my ecofeminists), Gayatri Spivak, etc ….and and and Yoni Ki Baat, pre-independence feminism in the nationalist movement (that is never mentioned or erased from the history books), desi female grassroots activists, feminist hermaneutics in South Asian religions, desi female artists, hadesi women and desi women in interracial relationships, queer desi communities, desi women in places other than Sout Asia, UK, Canada and the United States… just anything more on desi women.

  16. oh god…

Vandana Shiva, Anuradha Mittal, Gayatri Spivak… talk about the trifecta of pomposity.
