Calling one and all to the first mutineer meetup of ’06. Turns out that this weekend, we’ve got a triple threat lined up – Anna, Manish & I are all in NYC…
Where – Kati Roll – 140 W 46th between 6th & 7th [Note updated place!]
When – Saturday, January 21, 1pm [Note updated date/time! We moved this from Sunday to ensure the lovely AJP could join the festivities]
Lassi opened to some fanfare last April, and NY metro’s Underground Gourmet gave it rather favorable reviews praising it’s nouveau take on classic Indian street food and “inexpensive” prices. Others, including a few mutineers, weren’t entirely happy with the nouveau.
Several readers (particular thanks to NYCDesi, Ace, Sank, Emily, and others) have pointed out that Lassi is probably too small for our plans for world domination. So we’re moving to the new Kati Roll
As usual, given previous meetups, worst case – the food sux but the company will titillate.
As usual, if you can make it, leave a comment or drop us a note so we have some idea of how many folks to expect & how much space to cordon off @ the restaurant.
True, but then what would I have worn to the wedding 😉
Actually, Saheli was in town (as was Cicatrix, although at different times) but we were unable to meet up since she was free only the day after the wedding at which point I was in total collapse.
Wooo hooo…. Good choice…new Kati roll is definitely better and the food there rocks. I’m excited Anna will be joining you guys as well because I’ve had a major girl crush on Anna for ages. 🙂
Any interest in a Chicago meetup some weekend?
unbwogable kenyan- of COURSE we can have a DC meetup…i mean, how is that any different from kahani? 😉 brimful is in town for
my birthday dinnerfor business the week after meetup madness in nyc– if she’s free early in the day on sunday, that might be an option…or whenever. 🙂 i had no idea there was this much interest in doing DC. the last time i brought it up, i heard from a whopping count of ONE. it’s on like donkey kong, yo.yowza, it is so worth getting a pedicure and gettin’ my hair did after THAT… 😉 i can’t wait to meet you, too! 😀
Glad I checked back for the update! I’m coming still!!! —EMMA
Our brunch spot this week. 1 + 2 pals.

s
i’m in! looking forward to meeting all.
See you all tomorrow!
cheeky, cheeky…did you get the 2 messages I sent you (through your suitable girl address)?
I could do mid-morning Sunday (29th) as I’ll be in Philly the night before that…lesss do this! I’d love to meet Brimful and Cinnamon Rani, and I’ll drag msichana’s matako (kundi) along too…
we’ll just have to fix that now
I’m bringing two friends. We all read the site but never leave comments. I’m really curious to put faces to all the different mutineers and frequent commentors
Nice to see that people have decided to implement my request for more debauchery and all-round badmaashi on Sepia Mutiny 😉
It’s almost t-shirt weather out today, who needs summer!
Sounds like there will be quite a few people. You might have to relocate again. How ’bout madison square garden?
my wife says i can go. however, i have a request. i would be grateful if anna would agree to click a pic with me. that will show my wife……
Will you be coming to “watch” Jai? 🙂
Vinod / Anna / Manish… Whats the headcount now? At this rate looks like MSG might be more appropriate as Derick said. And are you going to bring little “HELLO I’m XYZ on SM” tags? 🙂
headcount = 20 of you + 3 of us bloggers 🙂
JustABlogger O’Ya Fuerza Dulce Jane Ovaltine Nina Mauritius Emma MithaiTerror + 1 Sank Emily KhiBoro + 2 Blunnies Sandhya + 2 Expose [caveat: i counted O’Ya and Mauritius though i wasn’t sure if they were in. are you?]
this will be the biggest meetup ever, i think. oh, and i am ALWAYS camera-ready, dearest expose. 😉
A N N A:
Any suggestions for which subway line to take from Penn Station or which stop to take the PATH to?
Fuerza Dulce,
You can just walk. Or take the Orange trains from Herald Square to Rock Center.
It’s right off Times Square.
ANNA: Unfortunately, I am going to have to skip this one as I will be outta town. But I am sure there will be more meet ups to look forward too, else there is always your Birthday dinner 🙂
From Penn Station (7th Avenue) walk up to 6th avenue and take the B,D,F or V from 34th street Harold Square station 2 stops to 47-50 Rockefeller Center. Stay towards the back of the train and you should be able to get out on the corner of 47th Street and 6th avenue. Just walk from there. 🙂
Sweet. And if it’s decent weather out maybe I’ll just suck it up and walk from Penn Station. 🙂
Ananthan…11 C, this weather is such a tease!!!! I’m going on an outdoor photography session tomorrow, some field near st clair and bathurst if you’re interested. You can bring bodyguard’s to protect yoself from us ladies if you want. It’s an open call, deets on the blog.
Sweet sweet Sepia, brining people together…
Count me in, too. (I don’t post here often, but am a huge fan of SM).
Pooja
Janeofalltrades,
As in sitting quietly in the corner with a camcorder and a bag of popcorn ? Depends…..do you like to have an “audience” in these situations ? 😉
Decides to increase the badmaashi quotient up a few notches. Uncles and Aunties worldwide, doing some surfing-shurfing and stumbling across SM, shake their heads in disapproval at the lack of morals amongst “the younger generation these days”
haandi is great for late-night “i need my chai-fix, but don’t want to spend five hundred bones on a overly sweet starbucks chai ‘latte'”. their kheer is pretty damn good too. and rasmalai. cho chweet.
Wow now I’m even more excited and as usual useless at work today. Two girls I’ve had major girl crushes on. What o what will I wear tomorrow? I’m a big fan of Miss Makhijani.
Yes it depends on the audience and my mood. And you realize Abhi’s dad reads this stuff so I’m going to make like the good India girl that I am and if hell breaks loose and Abhi punts me I’m blaming it on you. Bad bad Indian man.
I’ll see you guys there!
That actually sounds like fun, but im gonna be busy training for my tv debut, look for me in the background during Global’s election coverage on Monday!
blush
Thank you.
Now you’ve got me all nervous. What should I wear?
See ya tomorrow.
I dunno about you but I’m turning up in my chuddies.
Manish- if you say such things, you really will have to book MSG.
I might can some plans and try to be there on Sri Lankan standard time (you thought Indian was bad..ha!)…not sure yet.
Watch out for me. I will be wearing sackcloth and ashes.
whoa!!! lookee here… missed that callout… hmm… i’m open for a get together most any weekend… besides most of us seem to hang around downtown anyway… how about little ethiopia for some banyamaatu… that’s probably the best desi phood i’ve eaten in TO. hmmm… ok here’s the canuck list… neha, ananthan, ikram, Ang(ie), nux2.. moi. what … is that it?
