Over the weekend I ran into a friend with a crazy story. He told me that he had recently visited a city in the U.S. South on business. While there he was taken to a nightclub which had women in saris dancing provocatively. “People were throwing dollar bills at them,” he told me. That’s crazy I thought. I am pretty familiar with said city and I had never heard of such an unusual establishment. Apparently even families sometimes go there. I hate to be so cryptic but identities must be protected especially given the type of business. Then, this morning I saw this on India Daily:
The Indian girls in Toronto are busy making big bucks with sari stripping. They wear sari to attract traditional clients from getting rich India and strips in front of them.
Industrialists, politicians, Bollywood directors, actors and producers all are heading towards Toronto to experience this massive display of Indian sex!
The number of girls involved in sari stripping and sex market exceeds hundreds. They speak fluent Canadian English, are brought up in Canada and have Indian heritage.
Pretty sad. The logistics of stripping a sari must be a nightmare. You’d assume that more than one girl has tripped on their own sari. Now we know the downstream consequences of this.
Did you watch Draupadi doing the strip-tease on the freakish Mahabharata series? Now, THAT, is some serious drapery.
array yaars, for those who DON’T wear saris, the petticoats in the ugliest thing around..what is sexy about slithering out of a chiffon sari only to find a 3 inch short, cotton scraggly skit that is wrinkled up?
I don’t think I can wait the 10 mins plus for the girl to take it all off.
Rather surprising to hear they’re Canadian born and raised (in the strip joint’s where they spend most of their days, chillin’ out, maxin, relaxin’ all cool, taking our saris off ourside a school) because in the UK the closest thing we get to this is a lot seedier and involved girls getting brought over expressly:
Mujra Clubs
No kidding. I hear one of working girls goes by Draupadi.
and yet, there is still no sex in the champagne room… or so I am told.
toronto represent, again
Mujra clubs are all over England – wherever there are desi’s there are Indian strippers – also notorious are the Pakistani Mujra’s that are brought over from Lahore to dance and then sold for the night to whoever pays the most – their ‘sponsors’ are basically pimps – and its just a prostitute ring in effect – most of the men are hypocrites of the worst type who expect their daughters and sisters to be as virginal as a nun whilst they shower notes over the dancers.
Did you hear about that play Bells Punjabi Boy?
Wow…the things you learn on SM. O_O
Bongo
Yeah I read about it – didnt see the play though – it happens alot – its not so much desi girls from here – mostly Pakistani mujra’s from Lahore.
Soe family outing that is.
3″?? The peticoats I’ve seen would make a Victorian grandma proud. All thick drawstrings and yards of what looks like duck canvas.
May I say smugly that Colombo ladies wear a long slinky side-slit western sari with just a string around their waists to tuck the sari into? I volunteered myself for a Diwali fashion show in school, and horrified all the Indian aunties helping us dress backstage by running up to them in just the slip and string.
I think I left a firm impression that all Sri Lankan women are skanky ‘hos, cause when they asked if my mom sent a petticoat, all I could do was mutely shake my head and say that she wears a sari like this too.
uh, that should read “side-slit western SLIP” We’re not that skanky.
I love that India Daily – what a cheap and stupidly sensationalist tabloid – check out some of the headlines:
Antara Mali makes a confession – she likes to sexually excite people but cannot say so officially
Thats the whole article! Brilliant!
Check this one out,
Rakhi Sawant refuses to take her top off but rumor says otherwise
Yeah! Sexy!
But this is the best one:
Howard stern plans to call Ash in his show – will ash go topless?
Have you ever read anything so charming in its stupidity and witless sleaziness? Sepia Mutiny needs to start writing bullshit stories like this loads more I reckon!
That website is getting bookmarked – tacky sleaze of the finest type, love it.
Lord save us, that is one sleazy tacky hilarious stupid tacky site – here is some more from those tittilating idiots:
The sex network of Indian-Canadians in Toronto
Thats the whole article! They are just making it up as they go along!
Personally, I love this kind of trash – its too funny.
CMB took me by surprise big time. I’d spent a month around the coast from Kalmunai to Matara, working hard. Sure I knew Colombo would be different to the small towns and villages, but I didn’t know what would await me.
It doesn’t happen in BLR. It certainly doesn’t happen in Delhi and not even in Mumbai, hell not even London, but the Colombo girls are so forward. Whoa. I’ve never had a girl come and sit on my table at lunchtime, whilst I’m stuffing my face with Sri Lankan KFC (I eat like an animal), to chat me up and ask for my number. In India the de rigeur dress is kurta top and jeans, but these girls were wearing the tiniest skirts and tops in the middle of the day.
Then I checked out the nightlife. Nothing was the same after that. Good grief! Until I have the poll results and hear SM readers are all over 18, I can’t possibly say more! What a place.
Every time I read one of their bullshit articles I’m just cracking up with laughter! Here is the next one,
Bollywood wants lesbian films as lesbian marriages take off in India
‘international models of Indian origins’ are ready to do all the lesbian films – what a bunch of jokers! Too many jokes with this website man!
Bong Breaker, that is not representative of lower-middle-upper middle class columbo, where parents monitor their daughters very carefully. Maybe not as prudishly as some in India, but certainly not forward compared to western mores. The exceptions are the destitute and the very very rich. Some high flying parties fly very high, I’ve heard, but don’t know first hand since my folks never had that kind of rupee.
Bongo
What do you think of this headline?
Nisha Kothari worried about comparisons to others while Bollywood waits for this model to go topless and posy real sexy
‘Posy Real Sexy’!
Class!
Its like the Indian version of the Daily Sport.
So Bongo you reccomend a trip to Colombo?
Yes you’re quite right cica. Rich kids all over the world are the shockers. I was hanging out with some big shots (or rather some layabout kids of big shots) who I met out there and the money they spend is outrageous. One was telling me how when he studied in London he spent £3500 in one night at a club I know pretty well. Then just think how much further all that cash goes in SL. But unlike the rich kids I know from Mumbai and BLR, they were mostly a very friendly bunch in Colombo.
I want to be rich.
ok. Shit. Can someone remove my posts from this thread? What was meant to be a funny throwaway comment on sari wearing is starting to slide toward something quite unforseen by me.
If the two Brits here could kindly keep their comments from degenerating into something crude, I’d much appreciate it. Thanks.
brown sugar bump ‘n’ grin baby!
OK Aunty 😉
Top website that Punjabi Boy. Model your blog on their style and attention to detail. Think you can match their erudite reporting?
Do I recommend Colombo? Can I ask another rhetorical question? Well as I hinted at, the nightlife is something else entirely, I think a better atmosphere than Mumbai clubs, but during the day, if you look like a blatant foreigner, you do get hassled endlessly which got to me. That’s the only negative; I had such a good time there. I loved the whole country, Colombo’s just one part. Me the people I was working with are seriously thinking about buying a little place on the east coast. Like a timeshare. Come visit!
Take a look at some of me Sri Lankan piccies – click my name.
Kana gaatui cica
Hmm..I freaked out unneccessarily. How wonderfully refreshing 🙂
Yes, the tiny group of super rich people in SL are stinking stinking rich. And I can’t help but wonder how they managed to get/keep the wealth in a country that’s so fucked up right now…..the stink smells like war profiteering, you know?
I’m glad I haven’t met SL kids like the one you met. (I’ve met some obnoxiously pampered American-born kids, but they were really cut-off and clueless about SL) I suppose I shouldn’t say that one is less offensive than the other, but frankly, if you live in SL, shouldn’t something in your head say that dropping 3500 pounds one night, is not ok? ugh. douchebags.
Bongo
Nice pics – I love the ones of the sunset with the palm trees – beautiful – always wanted to go to Sri Lanka and now that its all peaceful there I should make plans – you want somewhere with a bit of nightlife as well as a beach dont you? And some culture and history to pretend you are intellectual when you get back.
I remember being totally scandalized as a teenager at a Gandhi Mela fashion show when the Aunty-Doyenne who was acting as MC tossed off, “A sari is clearly a garment invented by men. It takes so long to put on and is so easy to rip right off.”
The petticoat is the ugliest thing around
I smell a new market. . .Vijayanti’s Secret
Damn I’ve been in t.o. for a while now and havent come across this “Indo-Canadian sex network”. I need to go out more often.
Is India Daily an actual publication or just some horny guy ?
I wonder that about most mainstream media…
I think anybody would be scandalised by that.
(Just in case it’s a British colloquialism)
so i keep changing my handle…sorry about that–it’s sailgurl aka naeha. anyways…
i just wanted to say that i’m impressed that someone can put the sari on and then strip it off… b/c to get mine off all i have to do is take 5 steps and then it just falls off.
hence my love of… the LANGA!!
Is that same as lehenga? I need a dozen pins to hold my saree in place- that is why I don’t wear ’em. Lehenga is the best!
This is really sad indeed. Though I am kinda cool with such happenings in US/Canada, I still find it very difficult to accept/believe that people of Indian origin are involved in something like this in such a mass scale. 🙁
http://www.insiteaustin.com/current.pdf
Go to page 22 to see an article about an Indian (Indian origin?) stripper…uh…cabaret dancer.
Wow, what an odd coincidence! Just this afternoon my mom and I were talking about how some women (deemed “exotic”) are being used by wealthy creeps. It is EXTRA weird that such horrid stuff is going on w/ desis though. Too much repression…
Apparently Bong-American chicks can can-can. First thing on my ‘to-do’ list when I get back to Austin. And I am only talking about watching the show. No more 😉
for all you lengha lovers, there’s a cheat on a sari I learned about, from Assam. You still have the sail-canvas petticoat, but the skirt part is like a wide slip, you fold the pleats and tuck into the petticoat, and the blouse is the same as a sari or lengha (short or long torso). BUT there’s this dupatta that you tuck in the waist, over the pleats (some ladies pin it into a folded pattern, or not) then you wrap around your torso and over the shoulder like a sari pallu. It looks just like a sari, but with significantly less fuss, and it’s a little less bulky.
called a mekhla (sadly no good pics turn up on google, else I’d throw a link up here)
or you could just get a stitched sari—which my mom made me get…. i still look retarded.
i think some women (me) are just incapable of wearing saris.
hence my love of… the LANGA!!
will you please have a few words w/ my wife about this…she insists on wearing sari’s every time we go to a party, but it takes her 4 hours and we are always 3 hrs fashionably late. When I suggest a lehnga or even a nice salwar kameez, she gets pissed off and yells at me “I have all these sari’s I have to wear them sometime!”
Then of course when she needs 18 pins put in the damn thing, she has me do it and then yells at me that the “pins aren’t perfectly hidden!” and “you’re so lucky you’re a guy”…..Biwi No. 1 I guess
not a popular option with the purists, but it’s a pretty common practice to take an old sari, say with holes or stains, and turn it into a suit or lengha, so you can keep wearing it… I know of one designer in NY who will take a sari and completely restyle it into something modern…
Sarees remind me of a Marathi dance I did once when I was in high school. None of the girls had worn a saree before let alone the mathu style ( not like the bollywood ladies with their pallu tucked onto their waists. Everything was covered up- our strict Indian teachers made sure of 😉 )
For our first complete rehearsal, we put on the sarees over shorts for a trial. 30 seconds into the song and the portion of the saree that is tucked in from between the legs on the backside, were out and we were dancing with tails.
Yep, I think lehenga suits me just fine!
Ummmm what are you talking about…are all of you from India? Cause a lot of you guys suck at writing..and half the shit you guys say makes no sense…
I just wanted to make a comment about the ‘sex industry’ in Canada…that is absolutely ridiculious lol I’m not Indian myself but I have South Asian roots and believe me I’ve never encountered anything like this here in Canada. I’ve come across a few articles describing how Indian girls here are getting into these scandolous sex-networks and honestly I think it’s all false propaganda. I don’t think Indian girls are that stupid or impoverished to become involved in sex industries…I mean we have those mybindi dates lol (Indian Personals) But that’s as far as it goes.
I forgot to mention, I was born and raised in Toronto lol and sari stripping is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard about! I personally hate saris and can’t imagine how sari stripping can be attractive… Wouldn’t the girls be tripping over themselves? lol I don’t think Indian girls would sulk so low and go into stripping, talk about disgrace to the family! Besides, if girls were desperate for money, they could easily find a job working as a waitress or some other minimum-wage job…If a girl has grown up in Canada, and of Indian descent, most likely she’ll probably finish school, continue to go to university and establish some amazing career. I think if there was such thing as ‘sari stripping’ it wouldn’t be Indo-Canadians involved but immigrants or refugees who have no money (no offence)
Umm.. i take it you’ve never worked minimum wage. I have. For an illuminating description on why minimum wage still means living below the poverty line, do take a look at Jan Wong’s series in the Globe and Mail.
Whoa!!! … to some extent you are right – but logically even if the supply is weak doesnt mean that the demand dries up – it just pushes the prices higher – thus making it more lucrative to enter the meat market. BTW ever lookd at the back pages of NOW magazine . I have one here with me – it’s quite EO.
ok ok i get it. it was a troll. haha hoho you got me…
Pakistani Mujra is too hot to handle.
