Mutineer Meetup in NYC – Sunday, July 10 @ 3pm

A couple of us will be in Manhattan this weekend & thought it would be cool to call a mutineer meetup. So come one and come all and find out if the other beloved commentors / readers and the bloggers themselves are as dumb / smart / mean / funny / lame in real life as we appear on your computer screens –

What: Lazy afternoon desi snacks and barely witty repartee with bigger geeks than yourself
When: Sunday, July 10, 3pm
Where: The Indian Bread Co in the village – 194 Bleecker St.

If you can make it, leave a comment or drop us a note so we know to look out for you & to give us a rough idea of how many folks to expect.

If, on the other hand, you find yourself in LA this weekend, you may be interested in chasing down Abhi who’s helping put on the Artwallah festival.

  1. … I am going to be in Chicago this wknd. Wish I could have made it. Have fun though !

  2. how would people identify each other (at an indian restaurant)?

I propose everyone wear some kind of sepia arm band and walk in with fist raised. That will be an indication that you’re with the Sepia Mutiny ™.

  3. Or that the naan was too crisp last time and you’re not taking any more guff from those swine…

I propose that everyone dress up like their favorite desi nationalist. Just leave the pipe bombs at home, though 🙂

  5. I’d like to come to the NY meet, since I tragically must miss LA’s ArtWallah (sob!). But I don’t think I can pass as a desi nationalist, or desi anything for that matter.

  6. I’d like to come, but I’m out of town that day… How often does Sepia do this?

tell you what, Cicatrix…we don’t do it THAT often, so i don’t know when this will be, but the next time we DO coordinate one in nyc, we’ll give you and everyone else a bit more notice– that way even mutineers who are 225 miles away in DC can come, and the party can be even FUNNER!

/A N N A, who is bummed she can’t make it either, due to the short notice

  8. Hey folks – looking forward to meeting you guys later today. You’ll be able to recognize me + manish from our sidebar picts on the site… we’ll hang out for a couple of hours – till about 5:30 or so.

SF Crew – the wheels are in motion and we’ll post details on an SF meetup once we nail ’em down.

  9. bummed to miss it (short notice and all that, like ANNA said) Saurav will provide snark in my absence.

    regular outings could be fun…

  10. How did it go? So sorry to have missed it, afternoon did not go as planned…

Hope there’s another one happening before too long!

  11. I expected a full report from Manish by now, beamed directly from his micro-mini-Nerdtronic3000X wireless handheld device.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. Mutineers are friendly. Disappointed not to meet Saurav though.

  12. Oh, I’m not all that interesting in real life. I mumble a lot and stare at my feet.

But back to the point– I expected a full report as well–All My Children wrap up style. Who hooked up? Who fell into a coma only to awaken to find out that she had a twin sister stealing her identity? Or at least, what foods and beverages were consumed?

  13. I won’t give away all the juicy details, but there was at least one doctor there (think “General Hospital”). As for food, I had the yellow dal (super-yum), aloo chana chat (eh, mediocre), veggie samosas (ok), and mango lassi (super-duper yum). Apparently I was the only vegetarian at the table, which had a lot of lamb and chicken things. Still waiting for Manish’s report…
