I will break you

You know what? There ain’t no shame in my game. I’ll be the first to admit it. If I ever end up doing hard time in prison, I’d end up as this guy’s bitch. In the segregated prison system, brown-folk got to stick together. Dalip Singh will co-star in the Adam Sandler re-make of the film “The Longest Yard” which opens on May 27th. He will play a convict named Turley Lobo Sebastian.

Unique in his giant-sized 7′ 2″ stance, wrestler DALIP SINGH commands attention amongst all people in every part of the world. He was born into a poor family in the village of Dhirana in Himachal Pradesh of Punjab, India and is the third of eight siblings. At a young age, he earned a daily wage as a roadside stone breaker to help provide for his family.

In 1993, Dalip was still working as a road laborer in the Himalya Hills when his life’s circumstances began to change. By this time he had tried his hand at many sports. He excelled in all of them, but showed exceptional talent in body building. The Director General of the Punjab Police Department took notice of Dalip and helped him join the police force. The change in employment allowed Dalip to further his body building training and he subsequently won titles of Mr. India in 1997 and 1998. His success and hard work led him to train as a wrestler in the U.S. in 1999, where he developed the skills necessary to compete on a global stage, enabling him to win numerous wrestling titles in Japan, where he is currently a very popular figure. Dalip’s training schedule consists of two hours of weight training, morning and evening, every day. His chest measures at 65 inches and he weighs in at approximately 400 lbs. Maintaining his size requires a strict and intimidating daily dietary regimen: one gallon of milk, five chickens, and two dozen eggs, along with chapatis, juice, and fruit.

Dalip is very religious and adamant in his stance against ethnic violence. He is a true humanitarian. His goal in life is to support his family and aid the entire village that is his home. He hopes to benefit the welfare of disabled persons and children born into poverty. He is an active mentor to young people, encouraging them to stay away from drugs and urging them to find discipline, health and success by taking up sports. Dalip was married February 27, 2002 to Harpinder Kaur in a Hindu ceremony with the blessings of his Guru, Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. He still serves as a member of the police force having recently been promoted to Sub Inspector of Punjab Police. Dalip is proud to make his debut as an actor in the US with a role in “The Longest Yard.”

FIVE CHICKENS!

Months ago, while this movie was still being filmed, a buddy of mine here in LA (who is about 5’5″) served as Singh’s Punjabi translator both on and off the set. He described to me several instances where they went together to clubs in Hollywood and young Indians would turn into total morons around Singh. “The guys would get drunk and just like hop on him,” my friend told me. Although Singh is “against ethnic violence” I sure as hell wouldn’t get all up in his grill like that.

If you want a wallpaper of Singh for your computer you can find one here. Just tell co-workers he is your cousin if they start getting annoying.

Previous SM coverage of Singh here.

  1. WOW… this guy is amazing. I think I’m going to go watch the movie just for this.

  2. He’s put on some more muscle. When I read about him in India Today last year he weighed 165 kilos. Now he weighs about 185. So he’s added about 44 Lbs. Not that you’d notice……..;-)

  3. “I am in awe of this Punjabi Lion.”

Well put man. Sometimes I’d be willing to give up all the positive stereotypes of being Bengali to be associated with something like this. With the recent “Bongs on Bongs” post in which a lot of SM commentors seemed to be kissing my cultured Bengali ass, I think it’s about time we have a post dedicated to the great athletes and legendary warriors of Punjab.

  4. An observer walking down the street notices a Bengali man sobbing loudly as he beats the living hell out of a Punjabi Sardar.

“Why are you crying? You’re the one beating HIM up, aren’t you?” says the observer to the Bengali, to which the Bengali responds:

“Sure, but can you imagine what he’s going to do to me when he get’s up?”

  5. banglawarrior, that was the funniest thing i’ve read in quite a while. my out-of-nowhere laughter woke someone up. 🙂

and yeah, “me too” on the “i might see this flick NOW” tip.

  6. I want to see his wife next to him. Imagine how tiny she’d look, even if she turns out to be 6′

  7. Hi u all… just wanted to say that i have seen this guy in person when i was in Punjab.. He was modeling for a Body building product for my family friends… and this guy is just huge!… m proud of him… i’ll definitely go n watch this movie just for him!

  8. Sher e Punjab indeed. The biggest Indian I’ve ever seen is Arjuna award winner Parminder Singh, of the Indian national basketball team. Tallest was this 6’11 dude from Vancouver. But this guy takes the cake (and eats it too, along with five chickens).

Dhirana in Himachal Pradesh of Punjab

Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are two different states!!

If this movie is anything like the original Longest Yard, its gonna be entertaining. Kind of odd that they inserted a Chris Rock character in there. Anybody else notice that remakes of old shows with African-American insertions are all the rage now? E.g. Kojak, The Honeymooners…

  9. Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are two different states!

Yes, but Haryana and part of Himachal Pradesh were part of the original Punjab.

  10. That Killer Singh Khalsa is a dude as well. Look at all his pictures hanging out with super stars. But I reckon Dalip Singh is meaner. Dalip Singh is just dangerous. I wish I had a friend like Dalip Singh. Can you imagine how cool it would be when you were a kid to have someone like that as your Uncle?

I am six foot tall by the way.

  11. this guy will use arnold and stallone as tooth picks to clean his teeth once he’s done eating his five chickens.

  12. I just met Dalip Singh here in St. Louis – he signed my daughter’s hat. Mr. Singh was so kind and patient with the crowd. He is my new hero! I will see the movie just to support anything involving Dalip Singh.

  13. We need to do a Mutiny exclusive interview of Mr. Dalip Singh. Somebody should teach him conversational English so he can become more famous and make more money for his family/village.

  14. We just saw the preview for The longest Yard and the movie was AWESOME!!!! EVERYONE GO SEE IT………

OKAY NOW DALIP SINGH IS GI-NORMOUS!!!!! HE IS HUGE AND HELLA COOL!!!!!

WE ARE IMMEDIATELY HIS #1 SUPPORTERS!!!! WE ALSO READ HIS BIO AND HE DESERVES ALL THE BEST! MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU.

  15. 5 chickens…. damn. i believe it.

He must be a Jat. I’m Punjabi Khatri. We’re not that big! we may get 6-6’3″ but usually not that broad. I’m only 5’9″.

  16. Damm,

What a huge guy! I am 6”4 and look like a midget next to him. He was on Conan O Brien Last night and made the 6”4 Conan look like a waif.

Best of luck and I hope he makes it….ahem…big

  17. Just a not for deepa, most professional wrestlers and body builders shave their entire body, it helps emphasize the muscle tone.

  18. hey u know he lives in janaldhar and i met him when i was in jalandhar couple of times in jalandhar gym name Dhillon heath club. he is a nice huge guy.he even told me how to do bench though i can only lift 100 KG’s.lol. damn he never told me that he is going to hollywood for shooting

  19. appears to have pituitary defect – excessive growth hormone as indicated by brow and jaw over-development. Hopefully won’t go the way of Andre the Giant. Sounds like he has his act together much more than that huge man.

very impressive bodyfat percentage at his size – true testament to discipline at the dining table.

  20. Dalip probably has or had a form of gigantism in his youth, which explains the tall stature. His extended facial features are consistent with acromegaly, a form of gigantism which continues after the long bones are done growing. Acromegaly is treatable these days. Paul Wight, aka “The Big Show” had gigantism in his youth and it was soon treated after he reached his final stature. Paul is quite over weight though and this could end up costing his life, just as it did with Andre.

Andre Rousimoff, aka Andre the Giant, was not very responsible with his health. Though he was an exceptional wrestler his body couldn’t take it when he reached his early forties. He was a legendary drinker and probably consumed twice as much food as Mr. Singh does.

Andre died at the ripe old age of 46 from a heart attack. He was 7 foot 4 and 520lbs.

With the type of fitness and exercise Mr. Singh is doing, I believe he will have a normal if not exceptional lifespan.

-JohnW- a big fan of Dalip Singh

  21. Hello everyone!

I agree with bl00t. He should learn some English so people could interview him! I wouldn’t mind! Anyway, I was just wondering, if you could ever ask Mr. Singh one question what will it be?(for interests sake)

    Take care all! Cube

  22. I really think paul wight is awesome…I really admire his height, its very great..I’ll like to be as tall as him or taller.

  23. good for him. one lucky man. Not everyone makes it to hollywood and especially someone from poor family in India. Dude keep it up

  24. Um, yeah, I’m not certain about this, but nthe Head of Costumes in The Longest Yard said Dalip was 7’10. And seeing as she had do get his measurements for his multiple costumes, I would assume she would know. This guy is ri-diculous.

  25. Hello yall my name is jahma and i have an acute form of gigantism. I am 16 years old and am currently 7 foot 4. I have met Dalip at the launch of THE LONGEST YARD and he was a good 10 cms taller than me.

  26. Dalip Singh is truly an amazing specimen. In Flex Magazine about 5 years ago, I saw a picture of him beside Dorian Yates who won Mr. Olympia like seven times and he said that he felt like a little kid beside Singh. This guy is a killer, literally. Did you know that he killed (accidentally) a guy in the ring doing a “POWERBOMB” in training? (CHECK THIS SITE)

Anyhow, I still think he’s an amazing athlete and I hope to see more of him in the future. I think he will be a great mentor and leader to many young Indians in motivating them to pursue their goals.

  27. Mr Singh is a true Indian Idol for bodybuilding sport ,rather than appreciating the bodies of ronnie and jay ,i would really like to appreciate the size and the respective titles won by Mr Singh and he also made India pround in International wrestling. He is a true Indian hero serving the nation in Police force as well as keeping the name and fame in sports field ,God knows when bodybuilding would be included in Olympics.

  28. yeah this guy is friggin AWESOME! I am not Indian, have any form of gigantism, or tall (I’m only 5’2), but i am religious and i usually hang out with tall guys and i would like to meet him if i ever become famous. yeah and he should have his own website. i tried searching and there weren’t any to be found 🙁

  29. Precisely what makes a human being better being tall? I mean, admire the guy for putting in the effort to work out and everything, but it’s pathetic how our culture and people value someone just because they’re fricking tall.

  30. Hi, There is one thing common between me and this guy. My guru is also Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji who is founder of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan , mission of which is to establish world paech through Brahm Gyan.

  31. You are GREAT…Dalip… You’ve proved once again that “Nothing can stop success from getting succeed” All the very BEST..!
