Vote for Anish Shroff on ESPN

Done voting in the U.S. election? Vote again in a different one. As you may recall, 22-year-old Anish Shroff is competing for a job as ESPN sports anchor on the show ‘Dream Job.’ Well, he’s now made it into the final four (via SAJA).

The show airs 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT, and you may vote for Shroff online after midnight ET / 9 pm PT. Here’s the voting page.

  1. why vote for him? because he’s indian? just because you say so? why don’t you give reasons why we should vote for him instead of just implying that we should vote for him because he’s indian and this is an indian blog?

  2. Yeah, because he’s desi. I’m completely in favor of more desis in the media– it will help dispel stereotypes. But thank you for belaboring the obvious.

Check out the ESPN reviewer’s quote in the last post’s comments:

Not only the best out-of-the-box performance of either this season or last — but, quite possibly, the best performance I’ve seen on this show, period…
  3. Mat, this is a reality show based on people voting, if ESPN really cared to just hire someone for a position I’m sure they would have gone through the regular process. What’s wrong with asking people to vote just because he’s Indian? It would certainly bring a different demographic to ESPN. It’s not like other voting shows have situations where the voting is lopsided, i.e. American Idol. I didn’t really care, but now I’m gonna vote..

  4. Desi stereotypes are not that bad. Infact most of them were pretty accurate till the late 80’s before the Internet revolution.

  5. First off – vote for him because you think he’s good. If you’ve watched the show (i have) – he’s probably the best guy left. Secondly, the way the show works is that you vote for the person YOU WANT TO CUT. So voting for him won’t do him any favors – you’ll just cut him. And please, give him some credit for getting down to the final three. At least here’s an Indian pursuing his DREAM JOB – not settling into stereotypes – enginner, doctor, computer geek, etc – so whatever way you see it – these are my two cents. Watch the show – see how you think he is – there have been weeks when by far he’s been the best performer. And on ESPN’s Dream Jobwebsite – http://espn.iliad.com/index.html – 78% of the people who voted in a poll think he will be in the final…..nuff said.
