{"id":1602,"date":"2005-05-20T18:19:46","date_gmt":"2005-05-20T23:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sepiamutiny.com?p=1602"},"modified":"2005-07-08T20:28:42","modified_gmt":"2005-07-09T01:28:42","slug":"of_all_the_stup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sepiamutiny.com\/blog\/2005\/05\/20\/of_all_the_stup\/","title":{"rendered":"Of all the stupid&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An operation to rescue endangered sharks from poachers went horribly wrong recently when the rescuers&#8230;oh I can&#8217;t even explain it.  <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/world\/south_asia\/4561865.stm\" target=\"_blank\">From the BBC<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>An effort to save nearly 50 live sharks from poachers in the Sunderbans area of the Indian state of West Bengal appears to have gone disastrously wrong.\n<br>\n<br>\nWildlife officials say that although the sharks were initially recovered alive, <strong>several mishaps meant that they all died<\/strong> as the poachers were arrested.<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Okay so here is the ridiculous punchline:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>They say that the raiding party which intercepted the poachers &#8211; <strong>afraid<\/strong> of the dangers posed by the sharks &#8211; <strong>ordered them to throw the sharks from the deck of their vessel onto the sand<\/strong> by a jetty.<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Ummm.  This is what happens when you sit in front of the television and watch <a href=\"http:\/\/dsc.discovery.com\/convergence\/sharkweek\/sharkweek.html\" target=\"_blank\">Shark Week<\/a> all&#8230;week.  Then the officials try to play it off all smooth like:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;The raiding part made a mistake.
