87 Hours Until the DC Meetup!

Yo Dad is coming!

Isn’t that the GREATEST picture? Want to know the absolute best thing about it? It’s true.

Are you ready for this jelly?

The much-adored and revered “Yo Dad” might make a cameo at the first-ever chocolate city SMeetup.

Wait! There’s more! The elusive “Yo Mom” might accompany him, too!

Go ahead. Take a moment to digest. I know I needed one.

According to highly placed, unnamed sources, the parent whose words inspire collective swooning on any thread he comments on will be at Amma’s in Georgetown this Saturday. NOW what’s your excuse for not coming? Even the legendary (six-hours?!) San Francisco events and Manhattan meets didn’t have THIS sort of star power. Surely you’ll be in attendance now, right? 🙂

After all, this will be our Abhi’s first meetup. Mind blowing, right? The father of this Mutiny will finally link himself publicly to this scandalous site; this brazen and ultra-rare excursion from the innermost sanctum of the North Dakota bunker shall concomitantly jeopardize his future chances for political office AND mark him as an unsuitable boy. Do you really want to miss that?

In addition to those headliners and legends, steadfast mutineers Kenyandesi, Msichana, CinnamonRani, Chai and the awe-inspiring Chick Pea from Hotlanta–who is making the rest of you look lame with her devotion to the cause, i.e. her willingness to travel– will be attending as well, according to our last call for RSVPs.

And you? Should we add you to the list?

WHERE: Amma’s Vegetarian Kitchen, 3291 M St. NW, Washington, DC 20007, 202-625-6625

WHEN: Saturday, 5:30pm (which should enable a 6pm start)

WHY: My fotolog is needing snaps, yaar. 😉

  1. can’t wait, can’t wait…and now with the ‘yo parents’ of astronaut abhi making headline appearances–this meetup is going to be oh so great… is his dad still up for coffee and baklawa? hehe…. 😉

  2. Wow. Where did you find that picture? 🙂

Folks, for security precautions I am asking that more of you RSVP to our gracious hostess Anna. From what I see above, the confirmed guest list right now is me, 6 women, and my parents. This sounds suspiciously like an elaborate intervention of some sort.

Anna and I implore you DCers to de-lurk your bad-selves. Ask not what the Mutiny can do for you. Ask what you can do for the Mutiny.

  3. Gee Abhi, I wouldn’t complain if I was out to have dinner with 6 women who think. Parents around or not.

  4. As I’m using my real name to RSVP, I will definitely make a wholehearted attempt to attend (if I don’t, i’m a loser b/c i live quite close to g-town). Might bring a friend or two along..(?) See you cats soon! Mayur

  5. Anna: Thanks for the hype and the “Intro”. I have driven by “Amma” dozens of time, never went in though. Half a block from Amma is I believe, “Aditi”, which could be slightly bigger. There is a parking garage not too far from Amma, across the street, where we always parked when we went to Gerogetown. My younger one “Poojan” was at GW several years ago and lived nearby. Now that you have raised the “Expectations” to a higher level, we (Yo mom and I) have no choice, but show up! As for Baklawa and coffee Chick Pea, and all who are interested are welcome to my place – after dinner. Or if you kids have other plans (such as: continue hot discussions about few more “slang” words like Kxxxx), I could bring the treat over at Amma. I have only two days left now to get my “sideburns” grow! Dang, I have nothing to wear. Oh well, we might just come as we are! See Ya……..

  6. I not being able to make to meetings because i am living very far away from locations. I wishing you all success in anticipation and appreciation for kind invitation. I know this meeting is also complete success like before many many meetings. will the person Abhi doing of any moonwalking? Please post complete report. Thanks.

  7. For the first time in my NYC existence have I wished that I lived elsewhere. Have fun yall.

  8. Yo Dad: You are so sweet… I am staying out in G-town afterwards as I’m meeting up with a few non-blogger/SM friends in the city and everyone is welcome to come along (the more the merrier as they say)… 2 days of sideburns… i will have my camera ready 😉

Anna: ‘awe-inspriting’… or just a crazy chick ;)… pea nonetheless.. it’s going to be fun…

Abhi: what can you do for the mutiny? hm…. I concur.. if you’re living less than 40-50 miles from the meetup, there is NO EXCUSE for not showing up…come on now… get your chocolate bums up, and down to Ammas…

  9. I am faint with anticipation!!! I will be there with bells on!!! Really, I am going to wear my payals…:) My hubby will be along as well so Abhi dont fret!!! My goodness it almost feels Chrismassy.

  10. Abhi…you and yo dad won’t be the only guys around. I am bringing my husband too. Though I quite agree with Ravi lurks…why is it such a bad thing to eat with six girls, alone? Hehe.

Yo Dad…your comment about the sideburns got me thinking of the mintrose track…’Yo daddy, Jump on it! Jump on it!’.

    I am SO excited!

  11. Instead of registering deep envy, do as the DCs do and take the $15 Chinatown bus down. Catch the meetup, spend the day in beautiful Adams Morgan, check out the Spy Museum…

  12. Chicago meet-up? Yes PLEASE! My sentence in Iowa finishes up in less than 3 months and then I will be back in Chicago permanently! Though I have nailed the drive down to less than 3 hours. And…I’m done talking to myself now.

  13. Ennis, will you attend a meetup with your face concealed a la every picture on here? If you pixelate your face, hell I’m come all the way from here.

    check out the Spy Museum

I mis-speed-read that as “check out the Sepia Museum”

  14. Manish – as my current residence is still a few hundred miles north of the general location of the SM bunker in N Dakota, I hope that you’ll appreciate my hesitance in making the treacherous journey south to the border this early in the Spring. My team of Huskies is also yet not fresh from our last hunting expedition. I will eagerly await an update on the meeting as I sit in my seal-oil lit igloo with only ancient Innuit pastimes to while away the slow hours…

  15. “check out the Sepia Museum”
That would be the inside of Ennis’ pants.

    Now…cracks knuckles in anticipation

Are you saying it’s full of cobwebs? Or that it smells musty? Or that it has a state of the art security system? Or that it’s frequently broken into? Or that it doesn’t charge admission, just a ‘donation’? Or that old people visit when they’re bored? Or that it houses a priceless work of art?

Or that kids get dragged there even though they really don’t want to go?

  16. ahh…only around 56 hrs till the meet up…can’t wait can’t wait… to see the sideburns of yo dad, abhi (and yes, this is a diabolical intervention ;)), KD, chai, Mschiana, cinnamon rani, miss anna, and the rest of the crew… we’ll definitely cause a pure mutiny that night… no doubt no doubt… ammas, watch out…

  17. That would be the inside of Ennis’ pants.

Er…..How does Manish know about the situation inside Ennis’ pants ?

  18. How does Manish know about the situation inside Ennis’ pants ?

I don’t know. I’ve blocked it out through years of expensive therapy.

  19. I don’t know. I’ve blocked it out through years of expensive therapy.

Good God. “Ennis the Menace” indeed. Those people planning to meet up with him in Chicago are in trouble. A “chotta peg” here, a “Coke & Jack Daniels” there, and before they know what’s happening they’re waking up in a dodgy hotel room with a splitting headache, no memory of what happened during the night before, and an inexplicable post-traumatic stress reaction whenever they hear the name “Dennis”.

  20. they’re waking up in a dodgy hotel room with a splitting headache, no memory of what happened during the night before, and an inexplicable post-traumatic stress reaction whenever they hear the name “Dennis”.

I know a few people who wouldn’t mind that actually 😉

Shhh Kenyan desi….don’t tell everyone about things are done in the motherland!

  22. Shhh Kenyan desi….don’t tell everyone about things are done in the motherland!

sorry I was trying to drum up tourism…

  23. OK, it may be too late in the day… but I’m a pretty faithful lurker of SM, never posted (until now 🙂 ). Oh, and I live super-close to Gtown. The same reasons I’ve been watching and waiting to post on here/start my own blog are why I hesitate to hit up Amma’s tonight and meet you cool folks: aack!! Lack of anonymity!! And from virtual life to real life!! How do I get over the weirdness? Humbly yours… Accidental Enlightenment

  24. Lack of anonymity!! And from virtual life to real life!! How do I get over the weirdness?

Accidental Enlightenment, Just wear a fake mustache to the meetup. I have found that there is nothing like a fake mustache to keep your anonimity in tact. You’d be surprised how often this has worked for me the past. Hell, you’ve probably already met me and didn’t even know it. Oh, and walk with a fake limp.

  25. Ack just a few months too early! I’ll be in D.C. for the summer, so here’s hoping for a meetup in the future. Have fun folks!

  26. ahh.. it was an AMAZING time meeting everyone in person… thanks for the laughter, chat, hugs, and fun…

    memories of a lifetime… i’m now leaving for the airport… sigh….

keep the mutiny alive and kicking…

representing the south… –chick pea 😉

  27. Had a ton of fun last night. Loved meeting everyone — fellow bloggers, lurkers, and friends/ relatives thereof.

I love these blogger meets… NYC, Mumbai, DC… what’s next? LA or Chennai..

    Anna – Thanks a ton!

    ta ta

  28. the meet-up was excellent….over 20 people showed and we ruled the tiny restaurant, and i cursed loudly, which is probably not the most indian thing to do in a very family-based restaurant.

how jealous are you? we met “Yo Dad” and…he rocks.

it was awesome meeting dc metro folks and our southern pea.

  29. I had a superb time….and yo dad and yo mom won me over completely by bringing in the baklavas…I am still reeling from the sugar rush!

  30. Ya All: It was our pleasure to meet you last night. I hope I didn’t put anyone at unease, since I kind of felt a “little” old in company of bright kids less than half my age. Chick Pea: your hummus was great. MsIchana: Now that you know my real name, promise me not to “Google” me on the net. If you do, I will have to change my identity or obliterate you, hehe!! Kenyandesi: You sure braught the place down by your sweet smile and bubbly attitude. Cinnamon Rani: we will cherish your preety face, next time you come back from the “Boonies” give us a call we can meet again, provided Rahul gives me a free “foot” examination. Anna: What can I say? You lived up to the expectations, and made this into a nice event. Heck even Yo Mom did not gave me a dirty look except may be once or twice. Those who did’nt make it to the event: eat your Heart Out !! Keep on blogging you guys, and have fun in this “short” journey, we all call LIFE!!!
