Women from the Nicobar Islands have came up with a creative hack for feminine products handed out by Westerners:
Global NGOs brought in thousands of packets of sanitary napkins and distributed them to the Nicobarese tribal women this year. “Our women don’t use sanitary napkins, so they first used them as toilet paper because there was a water crisis in the islands. Then they made pillows out of them…” [Link]

p>But cultural misunderstandings can cut both ways. I wonder what NGO women think Indian-style pillows are for:
Whoa, at first I thought you said ‘tampon’. Then I looked at the picture and thought “that’s one small pillow”. Like a bolster for a doll’s house.
I had this friend from Holland who was doing an internship for a big Indian IT company (7 letter word begining with I and ending with S) – he had another friend from Holland who had visited India and took an Indian-style toilet back with him and got it installed …. how is that for COOL 🙂
Hmm..o they first used them as toilet paper because there was a water crisis in the islands. Then they made pillows out of them.
Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
This is too funny. Thanks for posting it, and following it up with the pic of the diwan.
OK, am I the only dirt birdy thinking that pillow looks like it could be one dirty SXX toy?
Wondering – you mean he dug a hole in the ground and put two porcelain foot-shaped cutouts on either side of it?
