[The segment which aired between 2:24-2:30a.m. GMT can be listened to here.]
The BBC Radio Network-Five Live, has a segment called “Pods and Blogs” which discusses topics currently hot on the blogosphere and then Podcasts them. They have invited Sepia Mutiny on tonight to discuss various issues surrounding the London Bombings that we have written posts about. I will be representing SM. They will also inquire about comments readers have left on our site. This will be an interactive live segment. Questions and comments during the show can be sent to:

The segment will be on air between roughly 6:15-6:30p.m. PST Monday night. You can listen live over your computer by visiting here, or download it at a later time onto your computer or pod. If anyone IMs in a difficult question or uses the opportunity to ask if I am the one who leaked Valerie Plame’s name, I will ban you tomorrow 🙂
Congrats to SM!
Let’s see which of the British fans is hardcore enough to stay up past 2am and listen live… 😉
I’ll bet BongBreaker and Punjabi Boy, without a doubt
Yeah! Two friends of mine present a radio show on BBC Radio 1, which used to be on at 3-5am. 2am is child’s play! Although got a 7am start tomorrow…ugh
Congrats SM, that’s cool stuff.
congrats mutineers!
Abhi, I don’t envy you having to sum up the reader comments 🙂
If anyone IMs in a difficult question
Oh well, those aren’t vague instructions at all. :-p
Good luck! Congratulations!
Congratulations, extremely well deserved.
By the way, I name drop Sepia Mutiny on other blogs all the time……..just to make sure the good peoples knows all about it. How’s that, blog friends? 🙂
Go mutineers…..
Teach the ol’ beeb a thing or 2.
Hey Abhi,
Nice job, man. I was listening live. I like how you made it a point to reflect the diversity of opinions in the comments.
Nice job, Abby! 😉
Thanks guys. I was nervous and I’m never nervous. I tend to talk faster when I’m nervous 🙂
Well done Abhi – I missed a wee bit, but was impressed with what I heard. Being on the radio is more nerve-wracking than one thinks. Was recording a show in a studio recently – thank God no one could see me sweat, yuk. Good stuff mate.
I missed it live, how can I listen to it now?
ms, I updated the post. The link to the broadcast is at the top.
at about 19:17, good stuff
Why didnt you mention me?
I still cant believe it when I hear Indians with American accents.
It is such a novelty.
Yes, I know. My accent is as American as they come. I had to really try to refrain from using “Dude,” when addressing the interviewer. 🙂
Caught the whole thing now. You summed it up very well – glad you made the point about how these bombers didn’t fit the mould. Nice plug from the host too! Top work mate, I mean dude.
Yeah Abhi you did a good job and you have a cool voice. The only disaster was that you did not mention me. That almost ruined it – but you pulled it back at the last minute and made it alright.
Nice Work !’ And ANNA got a plug too 🙂
cool! : )
They pronounced Sepia wrong though. And Abhi is that how you pronounce your name “abbey” or do you go buy Uh-bi.
Anyway, for future listeners. The skip ahead to 15 mins button did not work for me. I had to play it with the stand alone Real Player option.
Punjabi Boy, It freaks me out to hear Asian faces speaking with English accents. Especially those wierd and obscure English accents.
Speaking of, I heard Amardeep on a radio show as well the one with Amitav Ghosh. And as reader of his blog for a while I was a little surprised at first, I just assumed, it was more stentorian, professorial or “academic”. Instead it was normal and friendly : )
Whenever I come over to SM at the end of the day its like going over to a place to hangout with friends – its like a private corner on the internet where we can do our thing. Yesterday while listening to the BBC commentators (who seemed to know quite a bit about this blog) made me realize that there are probably a lot of people out there who are reading this blog without making their presence felt (via comments or otherwise) and they might not be just us brown/desi/South-Asian folk and the occasional andrea.
Anyways SM seems to have got a good review from the BBC guys and of course Abhi done good.
definite snaps for Andrea!
Does anyone else get the July 19 podcast instead of the one from this Monday by clicking on the top link?
